good thursday morning. it is 9:00. thank you so much for joining us this morning. i m megan pringle. jamie s off this morning. we have so much going on in the show. it s a packed studio. we re going to talk about the pride of maryland. it s an interesting basketball championship going on in our backyard. we have some of the players to tell us why this is so special and what it s all about. also how it was made possible this year. stay with us for that. we re also going to talk about something that parents sometimes dread and students as well. report cards. sometimes communication is the key. we ll go through how to talk to your kids and improve on report cards. a big theme we experience this time of year is holiday stress. we ll talk about two ways to deal with it. one is managing the stress. some folks here to talk about that and also, at-home massages which sound pretty good. dr. fairmonte will be here. we ll check with him later in the show. in the meantime, justin ....

dramatic rescue. a man is trapped when a house collapses around him. kelly mcpherson has more. reporter: denise, there were two men inside a rowhouse, just about halfway down the block behind me. they were working in the basement on a rehab project, when all of a sudden, the entire house, both floors above them, collapsed on top of them. one man was able to get out himself. he was near a rear entrance. but the other man was stuck. lots of debris on top of him. he was conscious and able to speak with rescuers and explain to them that he had so much debris around him. and he believed that his leg was broggen. that broken. that mean its required the special operations unit to come in to get him. the assessment was that they would need to use cribbing to shore up and stabilize some of these unstable structures inside the basement before they could even go into make access to the patient. because we didn t want them to become victims themselves. reporter: and just mo ....

courtroom drama. tonight, the prosecution rests. i m vic carter. here s what people are talking about tonight. two of seven charges against mayor sheila dixon are tossed out as the defense begins to move out its case. the mayor s defense is moving along. mike hellgren has more on prosecution witnesses. but we begin with mary bubala who is leading our coverage with more on some of the unexpected developments in court today. mary? yeah, vic. it was such an interesting day in court, with those two big surprises from the state prosecutor. reporter: the state prosecutor s decision not to put developer ron lipscomb, the mayor s former boyfriend, on the stand, led the judge to throw out two counts of the seven-unt coindictment. seven-count indictment. it s what the mayor s defense team wanted. obviously we re very pleased. they didn t bring mr. lipscomb on the stand and they are running from the case they brought here. reporter: prosecutors are relying heavil ....
