i am told that a solo female officer responded to a call this morning of a reported dispute and assault at about 8:30 this morning. when she arrived, police say the suspect attacked her with a metal object. sources tell us that object was some kind of chain, perhaps a bicycle chain. the officer was reportedly hit in the head and face. when she fired her again at the affect, fatally striking him. i m told the suspect s body has removed about the coroner and the officer is being treated at highland hospital for injuries to her face and her head. we are told that her injuries are serious, but she is going to recover. the police chief, shawn wendt has been at the hospital this morning as has oakland s mayor we are told that she is going to be okay. we also understand that/have been a number of people upset. there s guys here with a sign saying stop police terror. the scene was described earlier as pretty volatile. i m told reporters are now being let into the scene to get a close
powder keg, waiting to go boom. eventually after many incidents of his anger coming to the fore, we dismissed him. after a short chase by police, flanagan shot and killed himself. alison parker and adam ward were in relationships with colleagues and each have ties to our area. alison parker s boyfriend is an anchor at the station, chris hurst, went to conestoga and temple university for a year. he tweeted a picture with his girlfriend yesterday, saying she was the most radiant woman i ever met and for some reason she loved me back. this morning he talked about alison on the today show. she made us take these pictures sometimes when i didn t even to want smile, but she brought a smile out of me i didn t even know existed. she did that with everyone else she touched. that s why i m so thankful there are so many pictures of her and adam together and so many pictures of her happiness. that s what we ll have forever. and the fiancee of the photographer who was shot and k
that crash landing this afternoon. this is the breton bay golf course. we re being kept at a very far distance from the actual scene where the investigation is taking place, but this gives you an idea. we have photos, we do have video of the scene. this is a photo from baynet.com, a reporter was able to get close to the wreckage when it happened. also our chopper 4 was able to get some images of the scene from a distance. this is a black hawk helicopter that made a hard landing just before 2:00 this afternoon. we understand that there were three people on board this helicopter. one person was airlifted to the hospital. we don t have any update at this point on their conditions. if we can go ahead and show you the scene here as i m speaking a little bit. if you look off in the distance, there s a helicopter that s continuing to circle around this area. we re not sure why, but we re seeing other helicopters come through the area. this chopper in crashed this afternoon is based
another within moving in by this time tomorrow morning. and we are seeing some lighter rain moving in, but the heavier rain moved in earlier this morning. we still have wet roads and downpours moving from west to east and heavier pockets continue to move through. live look at radar. we ve had a little bit of a break in parts of the east bay in san jose. but more showers moving in. a close look at where we see the bright yellows and reds show more intense rain now moving from palo alto up toward fremont. that will be near sunol as we go into the next 28 minutes. and then, as we head farther to the north, there are some showers moving through oakland and the north and east. expect that to continue to move through diablo as we go through the next 20 to 30 minutes as well. as you go towards the north bay, lighter downpours approaching fairfield as we go through the next several minutes. lighter rain towards cloverdale, clearlake, where we ve had less rain in some spots. as this c
