You have some speculation this morning, a bit of news perhaps out of the santorum camp about when he may drop out of this race. what are you hearing? a very important poll that s been out overnight by ppp which has had pretty good accuracy in these polls over the last year or so. and it shows that santorum is now trailing in pennsylvania. which tracks with what we are hearing from other folks polling in the state. if that holds true, that s increasing speculation that santorum could get out before pennsylvania. he doesn t want to be embarrassed by losing in pennsylvania, and there s tremendous pressure on him to rethink staying in here all the way until may. we have an interesting story that popped overnight where you have a lot of christian conservatives who are backing santorum really thinking long and hard about whether or not they should continue this fight on behalf of santorum. they like him. he s their guy. but they look at the numbers and look at the damage that s been done t ....

here are the official numbers coming in. we projected romney as the winner in all three of the contests. 23% of the official vote in maryland is now in, romney significantly ahead, 47% to 31% for rick santorum. newt gingrich and ron paul trail significantly. in washington, d.c., 24% of the vote is in. 69% for romney. 13% for ron paul. 11% for newt gingrich. santorum was not on the ballot, did not qualify. in wisconsin, mitt romney ahead right now with almost a third of the vote in. 30%. he s got 43% to 38% for rick santorum. 11% for ron paul. 6% for newt gingrich. let s bring in our own candy crowley. she s been covering the romney campaign. a lot of happy people over there. three wins, that s significant. reporter: it s a clean sweep. it s exactly what they wanted. you heard first from paul ryan, who s been accompanying romney around wisconsin. we republicans are unified. you might get some argument tonight in the camp of rick santorum, but there s a clear push here ....

Pennsylvania looks good, ohio is going to be tough. seems to me this will be fought in the southwest, colorado, new mexico, your state, arizona, states like that with heavy latino, hispanic populations. if the republicans are sharp enough to put rubio on the ticket, speaks spanish, comes from cuban background, could they knock out the democrats in the southwest? traditionally, presidential races, democrats have gotten 65%. if you put rubio on on a national basis, you could increase 35% that republicans traditionally get. however, i think president obama is very strong among hispanics right now, especially in the southwest, so i think we can survive a rubio threat. it would be a threat. and i think the democratic party cannot continue to take the latino vote for granted, and that means a lot of outreach. that means progress and comprehensive immigration ....

Turns toward god, not a country that turns away from god. well, howard, what is this, an audition for elmer ganttry? is this what s going on here? are they applying for a televangelist job? they re running for president of the united states, which last time i looked had no religious test for the office under the constitution. well, chris, they re running to try to win caucus votes in iowa. and if you know iowa as i do, on the republican side, in the republican caucuses, that s going to be 50%, 60% or more evangelical christians. what was the percentage? 50% or 60% of the people who show up at the caucus vote. show up. from the church-based party. from the megachurches, they come from all over. in iowa, the farmland prices are soaring, commodity prices are up. most of iowa is not destitute economically. it s not like michigan or parts of ohio or parts of pennsylvania. and especially because of that, ....

I think you have to have a threshold. there are huge human rights violations, human carnage. i think we re taking the side of democracy, civil society, of a group of young men and women in libya who want to get rid of their dictator. i think in the end tilting that way, doing it carefully, building diplomatic support, having a carefully constructed internationally recognized no fly zone, helping the rebels with air lifts. would you go see gadhafi if the president asked you to do it? you re pretty good with this. you seem to get along with bad guys better than anybody i know. they like you. you don t make moral judgments like they re used to. if the president asked me to, i would. but i am not the traditional diplomat. look at this guy. you could get along with him, i m just teasing. let me ask about the stalemate in the midwest. east coast and west coast, probably be a democrat next time the way things go. pennsylvania looks good, ohio is going to be tough. seems to me this will ....
