Earlier i spoke to william oneill, the United Nations designated expert on the Human Rights Situation in haiti, and he gave us his assessment of the situation on the ground. Its continuing at a pace and with an intensity that i have never seen before. Ive worked in and on haiti for over 30 years now, and its by far the worst ive ever seen it. Kidnappings, rapes, killings. People are living in terror. They cant leave their houses in many cases. They certainly cant get out of the city. Its like an open air prison, except theyre not even open air any more because many people i know are in hiding in their houses, or theyve even had to leave their houses because theyre afraid theyre going to be targeted. So theyre in hiding and moving around. It really is a horrendous situation. What is the way out of this . Where are we going to see these political negotiations coming fro ....
So tell me what you guys do. A court has been told a teenager threatened to cut off the arm of singer aled jones when he stole a Watch Worth Thousands of pounds. The 16 year old pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an Offensive Weapon and will appear at youth court next month. I was contacted on instagram by the guy who allegedly robbed aled jones. Its a bit surreal because its the first time a criminal has contacted me and said that he wants to share his story. Hey. You all right . Yeah. Can you send us the address, please . So, hes just sent me an address, which is where he lives, and its around the corner to where we were originally supposed to meet him. Im just trying to call him now but hes not answering. I dont have his number. Its just on instagram. He seems to have given me a new address, but its been a few hours now, so im just basically hoping that h ....
juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved african americans, and as we do, the consensus among legal scholars is that the supreme court will soon be ending affirmative action, at least in the context of college administrations. does that mean that it achieved its purpose or that we re abandoning the underlying premise? a pair of cases have been argued. we will soon know the results. one involves harvard, the other the university of north carolina. the conventional wisdom is that race conscious administrations will end. currently race is permitted to be a factor in the administrations calculus, meaning one factor among many to be considered as schools seek to create a diverse student body for everybody s benefit. quotas on the other hand, are unconstitutional. that s the bottom line after the supreme court has taken up several major cases involving affirmative action over the years. and one of those cases was in 2003, it was grutter versus bollinger, involve ....
o say can you see by the dawn s early light what so proudly we hailed at the twilight s last gleaming whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight o er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming and the rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there o say does that star spangled banner yet wave o er the land of the free and the home of the brave will: welcome to new york city on december 23rd. merry christmas. your photos, national anthem, they get better as they go. i love the photo of the back of the pickup bed, the desert, slightly outdone by you in your robes the week leading up to christmas. we got griff jenkins and doctor nicole sapphire with us. nicole:you guys are looking very festive. griff:you get to this part of the year and it is just special. in new york, it is crowded which is frustrating the week before chris ....
one of the few remaining swing congressional districts new york s 19th went democratic. at least far moment in time, he was a snapshot of america s political mood. a swing district won by obama and then trump and then biden voted to send democrat pat ryan to washington. ryan ran on abortion right. his republican opponent focussed on the economy and crime. and now a midterm election that is just 73 days away and once seemed a fore gone conclusion, a republican takeover of the house and the senate, is much more uncertain. as jonathan weissman pointed out the new york times this week, republicans need just five seats to win the house. and their candidates are in strong positions to win the bulk of nine districts that mr. trump would have won easily two years ago if the new maps had been in place. seven of those nine seats do not have a democratic incumbent to defend them. here is another way to look at it. the nonpartisan cook political report rates 10 democratic seats a ....
