A new QuikTrip at the corner of Lindbergh and Lemay Ferry, a new 26-acre subdivision in Oakville, a self-storage facility in Sappington and a new construction company office on South County Center Way are the four South County projects up for St. Louis County zoning this month. The St. Louis County Planning Commission is holding a videoconferenced public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, by WebEx videoconference only due to COVID-19. Mehlville School District Assistant Superintendent Jeff Bresler ate lunch with students at Rogers Elementary in October 2019 to celebrate National School Lunch Week. Bresler is the former principal of Rogers, before he moved to Central Office. ....
The Mehlville School District hopes to bring back elementary school students to five days a week in person and high school students back part-time in the second semester, but the district is appealing to residents for help with that by masking and social distancing to keep cases of the COVID-19 pandemic down. The second semester starts Jan. 19. Students are slated to return from winter break which began Dec. 22 Tuesday, Jan. 5. High school students in the district have been attending school 100-percent virtually since the start of the pandemic in March, aside from a brief two-week window in the fall when students returned part time. ....
Editor’s Note: The terrific program “Terrific Kids” from the the South County Kiwanis is on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and schools limiting visitors, but we thought we’d look back on some of the honorees from past years. These Rogers Elementary School students in the Mehlville School District were named Terrific Kids of the Month in March 2018 by the Kiwanis Club of South County and the Dairy Queen on South Lindbergh Boulevard. They were honored for their hard work and great improvement in effort, reading skills or work habits. The students are selected by their teachers as having shown terrific improvement in academic performance, attendance, behavior, or some other aspect of their school experiences. ....
