SANTA MONICA/MALIBU On December 9, the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District held a board meeting to discuss the facilities Improvement Projects. The plan of action will call for using $98 million of measure SMS funding for the first round of renovations towards Santa Monica elementary and middle schools.
As a dedicated team has stated that three major moves will take place during this time. New buildings will be built at Rogers, McKinley, and Roosevelt elementary schools. Minor medium size moves will be made to Grant and Franklin elementary schools to help improve in facilities. While smaller improvements will be made to John Adams and Lincoln middle school. ....

In a Dec. 9 School Board meeting, Facilities Improvement Projects staff shared a plan for using $98 million of measure SMS funding for a first round of renovations to Santa Monica elementary and middle schools.
The team proposed three major moves to provide new buildings at Rogers, McKinley, and Roosevelt elementary schools, two medium sized moves to improve facilities at Grant and Franklin elementary schools, and smaller improvements at John Adams and Lincoln middle schools.
The presentation was prepared after extensive research, site visits, stakeholder consultation, and community meetings. An action item will be prepared for the December 17, 2020 school board meeting when board members will vote on whether to approve the projects. ....

Mehlville looks at facilities, safety and personalization ahead of possible bond issue

The next five years of the Mehlville School District’s strategic plan will largely be driven by facilities, safety and personalization.
The district spent the 2019-2020 school year gathering feedback from parents, students and the community about what they want to see from their school district. Two themes rose to the top: student safety and personalization.
The four listening sessions of the “Mehlville Listens” engagement process each centered around a particular aspect of schooling and the district. Mehlville also used online surveys called Thought-exchanges to gather more feedback.
The strategic plan was first discussed in fall 2014, before the board formally adopted it in 2015, just before Superintendent Chris Gaines came to Mehlville. Set to be renewed in five-year intervals, the current strategic plan is built around the elements of student preparation, teacher support and being effective and efficient. ....
