Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 8 (EMN): Aphuyemi FC, Zunheboto, and Proper V FC, Mon, won their respective semifinal matches of the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal Championship on Saturday to set up a title clash on October 9. The championship is organised by Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and hosted by Kohima District Football Association (KDFA). In the first semifinal match, Aphuyemi FC edged past Vanguard FC Tseminyu by 8-4. Both teams were equally poised with a scoreline of 4 – 4 till the last five minutes but Aphuyemi scored four more goals in the dying minutes to clinch the victory. Aphuyemi remains unbeaten in the tournament with four wins. In the second semifinal match, Proper V FC defeated Nimok Power FC, Phek, 12 – 4 to book the final berth. Finance secretary, AYO, Rocus Rino, was the match patron of the semifinal matches. Kohima, June 15 (PTI): The issue of reappointment of a retired government officer to the post of Principal Secretary in the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat was taken up for hearing by the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court on Wednesday. The Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) had filed the petition against the extension of service of Dr. P J Antony. The Court has fixed the next hearing for June 21, NASSA vice president Rocus Rino said. Antony was appointed as secretary of the NLA Secretariat on deputation from the Lok Sabha secretariat on January 2, 2020. He retired from regular service on May 31, 2020. However, he was re-appointed by the state government with the approval of the Cabinet as Commissioner and Secretary (on a contract basis) by upgrading the cadre post of the Secretary for two years w.e.f., 01.06.2020 to 31.05.2022 to head the administration of the NLA Secretariat. Our Correspondent Kohima, June 14 (EMN): Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Service Association (NASSA) on Tuesday started a poster campaign at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) as part of its indefinite agitation in continuation of its previous ‘pen down strike’ and ‘wearing of black badges’. This development comes following the expiry of the ultimatum served to the Speaker of NLA to revoke/cancel the appointment order of Dr. PJ Antony (Retired Officer) latest by June 13, 2022. On Tuesday morning, the aggrieved staff gathered at the assembly gate for the poster campaign. Briefing journalists, Joint Action Committee (JAC) Secretary, Sezoto Theyo said the purpose of the gathering is against the illegal appointment of Dr. PJ Antony in the Assembly Secretariat and against the arbitrary framing of certain provisions in the service rules to accommodate his service. Our Correspondent Kohima, June 3 (EMN): The first day of pen down strike called by the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) to protest the appointment of for Commissioner and Secretary of the NLA, Dr. PJ Antony to the post of Principal Secretary, and the “arbitrary” Amendment of NLA Service Rules, passed off peacefully on Friday. Vice President of NASSA, Rocus Rino told journalists that the staff have ceased work and did not allow any files to move out as part of the two-day peaceful protest, which will conclude on Saturday, after which the association will decide the next course of action. He clarified that the association is ‘against the wrong system- arbitrarily amending the Service Rule that a contractual or a superannuated person can be appointed on contract up to the age of 65 years’. “A retired person cannot be an administrative head of a department,” he added.
