ROCK SPRINGS Dinosaurs are taking over Downtown Rock Springs this summer. Dubbed “downtown-osaurs,” the ten characters were created by local artists Don and Kaye Tyler. The Downtown-osaurs, like Timmy the Pterodactyl, and Titan the T-Rex, will take up residency at various locations around Downtown throughout the summer. To kick off the summer theme, the Broadway Theater will be showing Disney’s Dinosaur movie at 2 pm on Thursday, June 3. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Advertisement - Story continues below. Following the movie, everyone is invited to go on a scavenger hunt to find each Downtown-osaur. Upon finishing the scavenger hunt, participants can stop in the Rock Springs Main Street/URA office at 603 S Main Street for a special Downtown-osaur button. The scavenger hunt sheets also contain a variety of dino-facts. ....
ROCK SPRINGS During the Rock Springs City Council meetings, the Council announced it had received four bids for the first segment of the Bitter Creek Restoration project. Prior to opening and reading the bids, Rock Springs Mayor Tim Kaumo said he would only be reading the base bids due to the nature of the project. There are several different options the companies can bid on, Kaumo said. “These bids will be turned over to staff for review and recommendations,” Kaumo said. Advertisement - Story continues below. This is just phase one of this multi-phased project. When all of the project’s phases have been completed, downtown residents and businesses will no longer be in flood plain. This will open up a lot of land around the creek for development and hopefully eliminate the flood insurance costs for those in that flood plain. ....
