US investigates crash that killed 13 people near southern border


At least 13 people, 10 of them Mexican nationals, were killed when a tractor-trailer slammed into an SUV crammed with 25 people on a dusty Southern Californian road near the US-Mexico border.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents opened an investigation into whether human smuggling was involved, an agency spokeswoman said in a statement.

First AOC, now the Mexican President have responded to Ricketts comments about undocumented workers being vaccinated

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Mexico’s President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, responded to Governor Pete Rickett’s comments on undocumented workers getting vaccinated on Wednesday.
President Obrador said that Mexico will vaccinate its undocumented citizens in America, but the president didn’t elaborate further on carrying this out.
In a press briefing on Monday, Gov. Ricketts was asked about undocumented workers–specifically, those working in meatpacking plants–getting the vaccine.
He said, “You’re supposed to be a legal resident of the country to be able to be working in those plants so I do not expect that illegal residents will be part of the vaccine with that program,” Ricketts said. ....

MEXICO (infobae) – The Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) classified as confidential for an indefinite period General Salvador Cienfuegos’ file, since it argued that the set of documents includes personal data.
In response to a request for access to the information, the Directorate General of Archives and History determined that any statement about an identified or identifiable person is confidential.
In turn, it appealed to Article 113 of the Federal Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information, which mentions the reservation on personal data and sensitive information that may affect the citizen in case it is disseminated. Thus, the obligated subject, i.e., Sedena, should consent from the owners of the information to omit the character of confidentiality. ....
