We haven’t seen Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi denounce the growing number of states that have declared themselves to be Second Amendment Sanctuaries, but give it a few weeks and we may get to that point. As it is, a number of Left-leaning media outlets are starting to fret over the increasing popularity of the 2A Sanctuary movement, including VICE News, which is home to a new piece warning that the movement could “destroy Joe Biden’s gun control plans” (fingers crossed that they’re right).
I find it strange that VICE has so openly embraced gun control legislation, given that the outfit is convinced that the War on Drugs has been a complete and absolute failure. UHRICHSVILLE Uhrichsville Councilman Robert Baker is recovering at a Canton hospital after having a heart attack during Thursday night s council meeting.
Mayor Mark Haney said Police Chief Vince Beal, Council President Robert Cottrell, and councilmen Ron Miller and Michael Huff put the unconscious councilman on the floor while Haney notified firefighters.
Three city firefighter/paramedics who were down the hall from the council chamber in the fire station responded immediately, Haney said. They were able to stop the cardiac arrest and bring him back, the mayor said.
The mayor said he had spoken with Baker on Friday morning. He wanted to thank the firefighters and paramedics who came, Haney said.
UHRICHSVILLE The city and Council President Robert Cottrell have settled a lawsuit over public records brought by a city service department employee.
The Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the case at the request of the Kent attorney who represented Jeffrey D. Morris in the mandamus action. He had sought to have the state high court order Cottrell and the city to give him certain documents.
The case was resolved through mediation, according to Service Director Belle Everett. Drew Piersall of the Columbus law firm Zashin Rich LLC represented the city. Morris and his counsel have agreed that all requested documents have been provided by the city, Everett wrote in an email message to The Times-Reporter. The city provided hundreds of pages of documents, photos and emails to Mr. Morris and his legal counsel.

Uhrichsville Mayor Mark Haney returned fire in his issue with Council at Thursday night s meeting.
At the Nov. 23 meeting, Council President Robert Cottrell read a statement stating that Haney tried to remove the city from an agreement made with Dennison and Claymont Board of Education over the tax income on the Claymont High School. Cottrell stated Haney had acted without council’s knowledge or approval and the agreement stands until council makes a decision otherwise.
At Thursday s meeting, Haney issued a statement in rebuttal to Cottrell’s previous comments about Haney sending a notice to Dennison cancelling the agreement.
