Twenty-two law enforcement officers from various agencies participated in The Merlin Foundation’s annual Shop With A Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 12, in Berryville.

Saturday, Dec.12, was a day full of Christmas cheer for many of Carroll County’s youngest residents. Forty children from Eureka Springs, Berryville and Green Forest arrived at the Berryville Walmart to be greeted by a group of local police officers. Each child was paired with an officer and whisked away to pick out $100 in Christmas gifts.
Twenty-two officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Berryville Police Department, Eureka Springs Police Department, Green Forest Police Department and the Arkansas State Police participated in the annual Shop With A Cop event hosted by The Merlin Foundation. ....

Carroll County received up to 6 inches of snowfall on Sunday, Dec. 13, causing cars to go off the road from Green Forest to Eureka Springs West. According to local officials, all accidents were minor and no one was injured.
Mike Teague, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, reported Monday that Beaver received 5.5 inches of snow, Busch received 6 inches and Eureka Springs received 3.5 inches. Those are all the available reports, Teague said. ....

Local News: Berryville police arrest Beaver Lake man after foot pursuit (12/8/20)


A Beaver Lake man was arrested Saturday, Dec. 5, after running from Berryville police officers, Berryville police chief Robert Bartos said.
Samuel Clarence Alburtis, 31, was arrested at the Berryville Memorial Cemetery on charges of fleeing and resisting arrest and warrants for shoplifting and failure to appear on public intoxication and carrying a weapon.
Bartos said a Berryville police officer responded to Casey’s General Store at 505 W. Trimble Ave. on Saturday after receiving a report that Alburtis was there. When the officer tried to arrest Alburtis for outstanding warrants, Bartos said, Alburtis fled.
“They had chased him around to Subway then across the street there and back through the trailer park,” Bartos said. “We were able to catch him at the cemetery.” ....

Local News: Alleged shoplifters arrested after chase (12/8/20)


After allegedly shoplifting from the Berryville Walmart on Saturday night, two Missouri women drove out of the parking lot and down Highway 62. That’s when Berryville police officers initiated a chase that ended in Stone County, Missouri.
Berryville police chief Robert Bartos said Tomi Cowden and Amy Woods allegedly stole “a large amount of items” and took off from Walmart. When officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, Bartos said, the women kept driving. Bartos said they drove on west on U.S. Highway 62 toward Eureka Springs before turning down a county road.
