14 dead in migrant shipwreck between Venezuela and Trinidad

CARACAS, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS/AFP) – The Venezuelan government said Sunday it had found 14 bodies after a ship carrying migrants bound for Trinidad and Tobago was wrecked en route.
The government said in a statement that 11 bodies were found by a Coast Guard patrol on Saturday afternoon, and “today, following up on the events that occurred, we found 3 dead, 2 adult males and 1 female on the beach.”
The Trinidadian Coast Guard had said Saturday that Venezuelan authorities informed them that “11 bodies had been recovered that day in waters near the Venezuelan coastal town of Guiria,” in the northeastern state of Sucre.

On Saturday afternoon, the Coast Guard found 11 bodies in the waters near the Venezuelan coastal town of Guiria in the northeastern state of Sucre. On Sunday, three other bodies, two men and a woman, were found on the beach. According to initial information, it seems that the boat left on 6 December with more than 20 people on board.
