This car s suspension broken. its bumper ripped apart into. the estimate was right around $3,200. $3,000 for one pothole. reporter: aaa expects damage this year will be more than the average. $6.5 billion a year. and potholes are popping up all over the country. here s why. during the cold, wet winter, water seeps under the roadway. as the road warms, heavy trucks and cars break apart the asphalt, leaving behind those potholes. so the race is on to fill the holes. in new jersey, this truck alone, filling 130 a day. the problem is, the crews race to fill the potholes, those are temporary patches. they really only last a couple days. these roads won t be fixed until they repave them. when the weather gets a little better. david kerley, abc news, washington. he, he explained something as innocuous seeming as a pothole better than i have ever seen any body explain it. great. transportation. great journalist, period. he is great. explained why it happens. how it is such a big de ....
Think we could deal with it. some people don t have school, some going back. kind of a mixed bag. the problem is that it s so cold that the treatments on the roads won t be as effective and the fact that we ll have to clear i d walks and driveways and cars in windchills below zero, that will be something we haven t done in a while in many areas of new england and the ohio valley. let s start with it this morning, heaviest snow elected over indianapolis. light fluffy snow, but again, it doesn t get treated as well and if there is any wind, it will blow right back on to the roads. so that is expanding in to ohio. eventually as the snow continues in to new england, that s where it will pile up the most. right now the storm affecting the ohio valley will eventually come off the coast and turn into our nor easter type storm and that will produce blizzard conditions for areas like cape cod, possibly back into boston, providence, and areas of eastern long island. the highest snow totals will ....
