12 right now right there on the edge of the fire line yoli joining us now live with her pictures and last we talked you goalie we re just off of highway 12 they re really road where are you now, and it looks like we still obviously some activity in the distance. right right, i further down the legal road they saw a lot of fire trucks also saw some plans but they ve been asked i mean the firefighters have been doing such an awesome job. they were able to get this under control and i m a leader road is definitely one of those roads were people were evacuated their homes along this road. and this is just like on the backside of one of the homes that was just up in flames, but they re all out there just not that up pretty quick or in fact, i m just going to walk down a little you can see another. a fire truck right out here and they re really just trying to get. you know some of the flames that on behind these homes that are on the hillside. because just right over here hold
we know more than 100 homes have been lost in the fire and dozens more damaged. so far, though, no one has been hurt. here s a look at where the fire is burning. firefighters are preparing for more dry and breezy conditions. a red flag warning goes into effect tomorrow afternoon. firefighters are hoping the progress they ve made pays off as those red flag conditions bear down, and they try to protect the town of calistoga. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony has the story. reporter: it seems counterintuitive, to set fires when they re trying to stop one. but that s exactly what firefighters are doing high atop diamond mountain road just a few miles from downtown calistoga. the goal, to gain the upper hand on the glass fire. while the winds are down. so that s why we re really trying to button up the lower parts of the fire with our burn operations and aggressive operations there. reporter: in downtown calistoga it s raining ash but no homes or businesses in town burned
filling their buckets and making their way back into the rough terrain. it is tough there, we are trying to establish control lines. we have had to take a step back and set up new line spear folks were told to get out, leave town at once, many neighborhoods look like ghost towns. many mailboxes are tagged, to let first responders know that the house is empty, not everyone left. if i see flames, i am out of here. until then, we will probably hang out. this man says there are about 50 people here still. he and his friend dave are making the rounds to check on thosewho are choosing to stay. to be ready is the biggest thing here the sheriffs are patrolling the streets. as we mentioned, evacuations on the west end of this fire have lifted or downgraded at this hour. eastern santa rosa is no longer under a warning. it affects the springlake areas, the middle ring con and skylake areas. for many, it is too late. this video was shot in the skyhawk neighborhood, where seve
meteorologist lawrence karnow about those fire dangers. lawrence yeah, this kind of leading right into that right we have some extreme heat over these last couple of days and. these were some kind of records around the bay area that you rarely see but here we go a 112 today are recorded in livermore napa coming 111 also a record one 10 record in santa rosa richmond, how about that inside the bexar 107 degrees. a 107 also in redwood city and a 106 degrees in canfield and we re not done there we ve got more records 96 that was a record in oakland today, san francisco international airport 97 degrees a record in gilroy 112 degrees but all around the bay area. extremely hot conditions and this comes on a day where we had extremely hot weather just yesterday. the only place that we saw some changes was right along the coastline. you see the 70 s very comfortable in half moon bay and instead of triple digit heat in san francisco. it was 91 degrees but everywhere else was certainly
hour in the higher elevations. we have a dry cold front pushing through, kicking up the winds. we have a red flag warning in effect now all the way until 8:00 on wednesday due to these a dry and gusty offshore winds. there is low relative humidity values for the north bay mountains and east bay hills and santa cruz mountains today into tomorrow morning and we have a wind advisory that will be in effect for the north bay mountains for today, at a possible chance of downed trees and power lines. it will be hot but not quite as hot as yesterday. we re looking at mid 80s in san francisco and low 90s in oakland and mid 90s in san jose and dealing with triple digit heat in concord. 103 for a high in concord and because of the extreme heat, still for inland locations, concord is opening up a cooling center at the concord senior center from 1:00 until 6:00, to give some relief to people, so go out there if you need some safety from these hot temperatures. it is from 1:00 until 6:00 i
