孙智彬的团队想以对比的形式，将中坝的发现与盐业生产遗址的发现相互校验，以验证遗址性质，却发现没有可以比照的资料――在中坝遗址发掘之前，国内还没有开展过盐业考古。 “当时我们能够看到的与盐业生产有关的历史遗物，只有汉砖上的盐业生产场景。”孙智彬说。 “有三类证据，可以证明中坝遗址与盐业生产有关。第一类证据来自土壤残留物。对中坝采集的土壤样本进行X射线荧光分析，发现土壤样本中所含的钙、镁含量特别高。第二类证据来自制盐陶器。通过对中坝遗址东周时期圜底罐进行X射线衍射分析，发现陶罐底部残留的钙化物成分，与自贡古代制盐作坊煮盐平底锅内的残留物相同。第三类证据来自陶器内壁的残留物。扫描电子显微镜检测分析表明，中坝遗址出土的圜底罐内壁残留Na和Cl的浓度很高，浓度从内到外呈现出由�
