Gov. Kristi Noem is losing her top cabinet member.
The governor s office announced Tuesday that Chief of Staff Tony Venhuizen has been appointed to the South Dakota Board of Regents.
Venhuizen will succeed former Regent Kevin Schieffer, whose tenure ended in March when he departs the governor s office later this month.
“Tony has been an incredible asset to our team, and he will be missed,” Noem said in a statement. “I am so grateful for his leadership and service to the people of our state. His institutional knowledge and experience will be an asset to the Board of Regents, and I look forward to working with him in this new role.”
