Guilty: Child rapist Raymond Harrison will be sentenced in April 19. A JURY has convicted a Keswick farmer of repeatedly raping a schoolgirl and sexually assaulting another girl. At Carlisle Crown Court, 69-year-old Raymond Harrison sat silently in the dock as the jury spokesperson delivered guilty verdicts on all 12 of the allegations he faced four counts of raping one girl and four sexual assaults; and a further four indecent assaults on a second girl. It took the jury 10 hours to reach its verdicts. The defendant, who lives east of the town off Penrith Road, had denied all the allegations. Both of his victims were children when Harrison took advantage of them, the court heard.

Carlisle Crown Court
A Keswick farmer has been convicted of the historical rapes and sexual abuse of one schoolgirl and molesting another youngster.
Raymond Harrison, aged 69, was warned by a judge this afternoon the âonly outcomeâ for his serious crimes against the pair is immediate custody, and told he must also now sign the sex offendersâ register.
Harrison had denied a total of 12 charges: eight involving the repeated rape, indecent assaults and acts of indecency with one girl; and four relating to indecent assaults on the other girl.
He went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court, insisting there was âabsolutely nothing at allâ in the reports of sexual abuse by the girls. But today he was convicted of all 12 charges – 11 unanimously and one by a majority verdict of 11-1.
