Campbell River man facing 16 charges after firearm incident

Police believe the two men know each other.
A related search of a residence on Sunday turned up substances believed to be fentanyl, cocaine and MDMA, along with firearms and ammunition.
Ray Sharkey appeared in court Monday on charges that include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He remained in custody on Tuesday.
“Whenever we are dealing with firearms in the community being used in such a brazen manner there is an inherent risk that needs to be managed,” said Const. Maury Tyre.

Homeless veteran house thanks to team effort
A VETERAN with who found himself homeless now has the keys to his own flat thanks to a team effort.
Paul Nixon was born and brought up in Rossendale and in 1997 he joined the Horse Guards Cavalry and was posted to Windsor.
In 2010 he joined the 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment and during his service he served four tours in Bosnia, the Falkland Islands, Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland.
Incidents that happened while he was serving, including losing comrades to friendly fire in Iraq, left Paul with PTSD.
He said: “I got jobs in security, but I could see visions of things that weren t there and so I had to leave.” ....

A VETERANS’ technology project has enabled the only surviving member of D-Day heroes No 4 Commando E troop to see his family on the other side of the world.
Private Harvey O’Hara, from Burnley, was one of the original D-Day leaders, when aged 21 he landed on Sword Beach in Northern France.
As a member of Veterans In Communities (VIC), a Haslingden-based charity that works throughout East Lancashire, he has benefited from the ‘Veterans Should Not Be Forgotten’ project and now has a tablet on loan that has opened up the world to him.
Harvey, 97, whose service nickname was Paddy because of his Irish surname, lives with his grandson Brett, a Royal Logistics Corps veteran. ....
