Mumbai: Music maestro AR Rahman, who is making his debut as a producer and co-writer with the film ’99 Songs’, said on Saturday that it was his frequent collaborator, filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who cast him as a storyteller Inspired to explore its artistic side.
The musical drama film is the story of art and self-discovery of a struggling singer who wants to become a successful musician. Directed by debutant actor Ishwari Krishnamurthy, “99 Songs” stars debutante Eehan Bhat, Edilsey Varghese and Tibetan-origin Indian actor Tenzin Dalha in the lead roles.
Rahman, who has also co-written the film, recalled the time when Ratnam told him how to tell the story of a film and it was a normal process to make a song. ....
