scourge of fake news. so what are we talking about here? whatever medium myths? these are prominent stories about and/or by the news media. they are widely known and often are told, but which, under scrutiny, under examination, dissolve as apocryphal or wildly exaggerated. media myths. and in a way, media myths are cousins to fake news. they are going to be cases of fake news that have masqueraded as accurate for many years, media myths. and also they can be thought of as sort of the junk food of appealing, alluring, delicious perhaps. but not terribly wholesome. what was the junk food of journalism some of the features of media myths, these invariably are [inaudible] succinct, short to the point. they are almost always simplistic. almost always simplistic. and of course they are media -centric. they revolve around media, media actors, journalists. and easily remembered, easily re-told. they are almost too good not to be true. these are some of the defining characteristics,
