Short commute i hit a lot of standing water. That woke me back up again. Hi, mike. Yeah. Definitely some minor ponding out there as we head through the morning commute. The deeper we get into the morning commute the less likely youll run into that. We have patches of drizzle and light rain to contend with. A bit of fog out there as we try to keep things damp. That will transition after the morning commute into a few waves of showers that should be over around 3 00, 4 00. The clouds may open just right before the sun sets, but tonight tule fog will be arriving. The morning commute will be wetter than the evening commute. Kind of the reverse of what we had yesterday. Well talk about a dry pattern coming up as we look into thanksgiving week. Thank you. Well start this morning with a major announcement overnight about pfizers covid19 vaccine. With all the talk of a possible curfew and restrictions tightening in the bay area, a lot of people are stocking up. Were seeing a lot of empty shelves similar to when the pandemic first hit. Stores are running out of toilet paper and paper towels. Experts say we do not need to worry about a supply problem. Amy hollyfield is live in san leandro with more on this. Good morning. Good morning. Were watching as big trucks pull into this costco. They are restocking shelves right now. The best time to shop were told if you are looking for toilet paper or paper towels is in the morning. Late in the day this is what we found. This is what the shelves looked like. Theyre pretty empty. Its not just one store. We found this was the case at target, costco, safeway, all of them dealing with the same issue. Some stores are limiting how many packages customers can buy. But the shelves are still clearing out by the end of the day. Clerks are reassuring customers that more will arrive. They said that they do get toilet paper every day, you just have to come earlier in the day to get some. The California Grocers Association says theres no need to worry. Stores will not close. And they do get daily shipments of supplies. Clerks say they are noticing that people are now trying to limit their number of trips to the store, so theyre noticing everyone is buying large quantities so they can spend less time at the store and more time at home. This costco opens at 9 30 this morning, so again, morning is a good time to get those supplies if you need them. Reporting live from san leandro, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. Thank you. If you are still considering a trip this Holiday Season, dont do it. That is the message from the medical community. We know california has an advisory which is not a ban, however Health Professionals say traveling just is not worth the risk as our covid cases surge. I have to stand with Public Health officials and say this Holiday Season has to suck so future ones dont. I implore people to make prudent decisions, responsible decisions about travel, their gettogethers. We all want to see our family and friends right now. This is not the year to do it. If you do decide to leave the state, youre asked to selfquarantine for two weeks when you return. And an Emeryville Company is behind the first of its kind covid19 home test approved by the fda. Jobina is at the live desk with how quickly you can get results. Luceras test kit is the first to be approved that can be fully selfadministered and provide results at home. Lucera says results are available in 30 minutes. People will need a prescription to get the test. Initially tests will be available in california and florida. The kit includes a sterile swab, sample vile, a test unit and a plastic disposable bag. The results will be shown on the test units lightup display that shows whether a person is positive or negative for covid19. We had the technology to do this for many, many months. So im happy to see the fda approving this. The problem now is we dont know how many tests will be available, how long it will take to get the tests out there. And obviously still going to require a prip shun. Prescription. I want to see a lot more home tests. According to the companys website it will cost less than 50,000. Thank you.
