For the first time since Jharkhand's creation in 2000, residents of five Maoist-affected villages in Chatra district cast their votes at local booths. This milestone, attributed to the efforts of the district administration, saw voter turnout exceeding 50%, reflecting a significant change from previous years.
A total of 77,042 first-time voters in Chatra Lok Sabha constituency will exercise their franchise on May 20. Chatra district has the highest number of first-time voters, urging all to participate in the festival of democracy.
A voting awareness programme titled ‘Vote for Chatra’ was organised by the district administration and NTPC’s North Karanpura to instil the importance of voting among the labour force. The event aimed to empower citizens through voting enlightenment. Deputy commissioner Ramesh Gholap motivated labourers to be active participants in the electoral process.
