In a historic turn of events, women voters in the Chatra constituency surpassed their male counterparts in the recent polling held on May 20. Chatra with five assembly segments and more than 16 lakh voters, recorded a 63.69% turnout. The voting percentage of women was six points higher than that of men. DC Ramesh Gholap verified the data and mentioned in 2019, 50 booths in the Chatra district had a voting percentage below 50. Among the 50 booths, 35 are in Chatra town and 15 in Simaria, where a voting percentage of 47.08 was recorded. Voting percentage in the 35 booths increased to 56.67 from 47.08 in 2019, marking a 9.59% increase. The remaining 15 booths saw a voting percentage of 53.57, up from 48.25 in 2019 LS election, indicating a 5.32% rise. Chatra has 16,89,926 voters, including 8,27,965 women and 8,61,959 men.
