This month alone there have been a half dozen crashes from gilead to sanford road in huntersville. Eyewitness News Reporter joe bruno is live along that road to show us some of the issues theyre s. Highway patrol troopers tell channel 9 that there isnt much they can do because of the i77 toll lane construction and the placement of the safety barriers. Now, according to Highway Patrol, i77 is, quote, a mess of a road. So far this year, there were 228 crashes on the stretch through charlotte. 240 in february and 162 crashes in march already. Troopers we spoke with say there isnt much they can do because of the construction. According to Highway Patrol, the barriers make matters worse.
