It issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the districts of Thane, Raigad, Pune, and Palgarh. 'Orange' alert has been issued for Mumbai and Ratnagiri.

IMD issues red alert: The weather department shared satellite imagery to show the moderate to severe convection over Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, and adjoining areas of interior Maharashtra, Rajasthan, South Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
Western districts of Madhya Pradesh, southern parts of Gujarat and many parts of Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan and Goa will also witness rain and thundershower activities in next 3 to 4 days.
Rain activities over Konkan and Goa including Mumbai and suburbs will be heavy to very heavy between September 13 and 15. There are chances of widespread flash floods and water logging over these areas. This may be the red alert a situation for North Madhya Maharashtra South Gujarat as well as for Mumbai.
