The former Bbc Director general Lord Hall has resigned as chairman of the national gallery, amid outcry following an inquiry into Panoramas Princess Diana interview. Lord hall was director of news when Martin Bashir got the 1995 scoop, using faked documents. In a statement, he said continuing in the role would be a distraction. Meanwhile, Princess Dianas brother, earl spencer, has confirmed to the bbc that he has written to the met Police Commissioner again, asking her to investigate the corporation over the interview.
