LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Monday imposed heavy fine and issued warning notices to 13 factories for bringing improvement to numerous food business operators (FBOs) while inspecting the juice pulp manufacturing units in Punjab. The Authority Director General Rafaqat Ali Naswana said that fines were imposed on various pulp production units for utilising rotten fruits and vegetables, adding that there was poor condition of storage system and cleanliness arrangements over there. He said the PFA had been conducting raids regularly on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to ensure quality of food. ....

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday sealed six food points over the use of hazardous and prohibited ingredients along with violation of the coronavirus preventive standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the provincial capital.
PFA Director General (DG) Rafaqat Ali Naswana said that the production unit of Bhola Sweets was sealed by the food safety teams for using non-food graded colours and harmful chemicals in their products. ....

The PFA food safety teams discarded 430 prohibited ‘gutka’ sachets, 400 kgs of substandard chilli garlic sauce, 280 kgs of fake honey and 50 kgs of glucose, said a PFA statement.
PFA Director General Rafaqat Ali Naswana said that ketchup and sauce factory was sealed for using prohibited starch in preparation of sauce at Ferozewala. “False labelling, using plastic crockery and fungus infested mixer machinery are the reasons of it being sealed. Poor arrangement of cleanliness and stinky water is witnessed during the raid.”
On the other hand in Faiz Bagh, honey production unit was sealed over preparing fake honey with addition of sugar, glucose and non-food graded colours. ....
