about what supposedly happened. the one we heard was that they weren t detected, these incursions, but they figured it out later. that s different than what they have said in other iterations. i can say with confidence, i never heard of anything like this. if these were detected but not raised to an appropriate level, that s a serious problem. if they were misassessed as weather anomalies, that s a problem. if the radar didn t detect them at all, that s another issue. i think what the administration is doing undercuts their own credibility. this is not a partisan issue. this is a national security issue. instead of trying to say the trump administration missed something or not, we will find out what the truth is one day or another. constantly changing their story is a big mistake. let me just clarify. my reporting i ve been on this from day one the last
detection? yeah, i was a weapons instructor, i ran the weapons school for helicopters in the uk and it was our job to understand radar, the way it works, the way it tracks you. the pulse repetition frequencies, the amplitudes of the signals, listening to the radar warning receiver. and we flew, for fast jets it was 250 feet, for helicopters, that is 50 feet. that is pretty low. and you had to be at that altitude to make sure that a radar didn t see you. this is is a 777. this is why this 4,000 feet, it raises a very strong eyebrow because 4,000 feet is as i understand everything you have said, 4,000 feet puts you on radar. it depends on what the range is. but if radar is available, 4,000 feet will pick it up. if you re at 500 miles you
so i guess i m skeptical of anybody, of a country who doesn t cooperate and doesn t provide the information for 30 days. and then comes out with a statement and says, oh, by the way, you know, they didn t come through our radar, radar didn t detect them. well, i m just skeptical after almost 30 days, they make a pronouncement and we re supposed to change our thinking. no, i need a little more than that. i told you you were skeptical. you know, as a commercial airline pilot, jim tilmon, i would imagine it s not far fetched to understand how to fly around certain air space, but would an airline pilot know how to avoid radar, is that a military pilot s sort of m.o., to know how to do that? the military aircraft have facilities on board to detect when they are being absorbed on radar. it s we don t have that in commercial aviation. we don t have anything in the cockpit to let us know whether we have are being seen on
