Wage rise stimulus arguments do not add up – Ai Group submission to Annual Wage Review
The national employer association Ai Group has filed its second submission to this year’s Annual Wage Review, arguing for a delayed operative date for any potential pay increase for employers in distressed sectors and debunking the argument that a minimum wage increase amounts to stimulus.
Ai Group Chief Executive, Innes Willox, said: “Our analysis has demonstrated that the ACTU’s argument that an increase in minimum wages would have a similar effect to government stimulus payments does not add up.
“This argument has substantial flaws and should not be accepted by the Expert Panel of the Fair Work Commission. ....

Pooled Resources to Drive Finnish Quantum Science

Three of Finland’s top research institutions –Aalto University, The University of Helsinki and VTT Technical Research Centre - are to pool their expertise and resources in research, education and innovation on quantum science and technology, under the umbrella of InstituteQ: The Finnish Quantum Institute.
“Our goals are threefold,” said Jukka Pekola, professor at Aalto University. “Firstly, to coordinate our national research efforts; secondly, to provide the best possible education, both in graduate and industrial programmes; and thirdly, in driving innovation.”
“We want the institute to guide the development of current infrastructure and have a role in generating new pathways and projects for quantum technologies.
