It s estimated that at least 2,000 people attended the Monroe County George Floyd Memorial March organized by Johnson, which began in Dansbury Park in East Stroudsburg and ended at Stroudsburg s Courthouse Square. Less than a year later, Stroudsburg Mayor Tarah Probst unveiled a work of art to commemorate the march, and Floyd s memory. Probst unveiled the art installation, which is permanent, at the corner of Sixth Street and Quaker Alley on March 15. The structure was designed by Jim Evanisko and Go Collaborative, using a photograph taken by Corporal Rolando D. Acosta, Firearms Investigator for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. A grant from Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau helped pay for the art project. ....
Stroudsburg hoping for cold, snowy winter as ice rink comes out of storage The ski slopes in the Poconos aren’t the only ones praying for a cold, snowy winter this season, given the exceptionally mild temperatures last year that turned ice rinks into ice water. In Stroudsburg, officials are pulling its ice rink out of storage and moving it to a new location across the street from where it was setup last year adjacent to the Monroe County Courthouse. This year the rink is going up at by the Quaker Alley pocket park because last year’s spot is needed to install underground cables for the expansion of the courthouse. ....
