ROCK ISLAND, Ill. The Rock Island City Council voted six to zero in favor of a contract with the Quad City Chamber of Commerce to help revitalize the downtown area on Monday January 25th. The $225,000 contract will put someone full time on working towards making the area more attractive to visitors.
The Chamber will provide downtown place management services by implementing a downtown steering committee, making recommendations to the city council on how to best bring revenue, events and businesses into the area, developing a plan for long term funding stability, and making recommendations on how to use the rest of the city’s TIF funds available. ....
