There will be a full time position dedicated to bring more life back to the area Author: Maggie Wedlake (WQAD) Updated: 10:24 PM CST January 25, 2021 ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Rock Island City Council voted six to zero in favor of a contract with the Quad City Chamber of Commerce to help revitalize the downtown area on Monday January 25th. The $225,000 contract will put someone full time on working towards making the area more attractive to visitors. The Chamber will provide downtown place management services by implementing a downtown steering committee, making recommendations to the city council on how to best bring revenue, events and businesses into the area, developing a plan for long term funding stability, and making recommendations on how to use the rest of the city’s TIF funds available.
