It seems well see President Trump address the nation. One thing weve seen all year long is the president using the white house in an unprecedented way. It is just mind blowing. Im used to when you dont do political work on government property, let alone the white house. He gave his acceptance speech. Hes done repeated events on white house grounds. Im going to put out the spot in a slightly different way. What should we hear from the president . In these next two minutes . He should say pretty much the same thing joe biden said. I see a path to victory here. I think im going to win this race. It will take a little while for to us get all the votes counted but thats what i think we should do. Theres no conversation about policy. He didnt say why he was running. I think the president should talk about what he wants to see. A couple of sentences. This is about shaping a narrative over the next couple days or perhaps longer. And youv ....

[applause] thank you. Its really an honor and a privilege to be here. I was asked to say a few words to introduce the next panel. I would start by saying something that we probably know. The court is a fairly powerful institution. It was not always so, one of the signs of how powerful it is, is that you do see, in any president ial election, people say it matters who you vote for because they will pick the next Supreme Court justices. If you think about why that really is so, the Court Decides about 80 cases a year. About 75 of them need to be decided but thats not the reason the court is powerful and not the reason people say that about who you should vote for for the president ial election. There typically five or six cases in any term which is why we care about the court. Those are the cases that have truly Significant ....

But and about 75 of them need to be decided but theyre not the reason the court is such a powerful institution and not the reason people say that about who you should vote for in the president ial election. In any given term theres typically five or six cases really the reason we care about the court. And those are the cases that have truly Significant Impact on our politics, on our society, on our government. There are also, though, typically cases, the reason theyre so hard and part of the reason that makes them so important is the law runs out before you get to the decision. So how do we justify giving so much power to what amounts to a kind of monarchal institution in cases like that . And its not actually so easy to do if you think about it. But one of the ways we do it is by who we appoint. Who we give that kind ....
