Garowe (PP News Desk) At a question and answer session on the first day of Forum for Ideas Confrence in Garowe Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam shared an anecdote about his attempt to open a Jubaland representative office in Nairobi.
“I had the intention to open a Jubaland representative office in Nairobi. Rather than opening a seperate representative office in Nairobi, a decision that could damage the image of the Somali Embassy, I approached Ambassador Jamal [Hassan] and asked for him to accommodate the Jubaland representative’s office because I share a long border with Kenya, and Kenyan troops are in Jubaland” President Ahmed said. ....

Mogadishu Mayor Raises Alarm Bell over Armed Robberies in Kaaraan
Mogadishu (PP News Desk) The Mayor of Mogadishu Omar Mohamud Mohamed yesterday paid a visit to Karaan district where incidents of armed robberies have been on the rise. The Mayor asked for Kaaraan neighbourhouds to do their bit to help stem the tide of armed robberies in one of the largest districts in the Somali capital.
“Armed robbers terrorise people in Kaaraan. When a robber gets arrested by authorities he is vouched for my clansmen” said the Mayor. “If you want to keep robbers on the straight and narrow, refer them to rehabilitation centres run by the govrnmenent” the Mayor urged Kaaraan residents. ....

Al-shabaab Captures a Village in Puntland
Bosaso (PP News Desk) Al-shabaab militias have taken control of Milxo, a village which lies between Lasqoray and Durduri, and is under the jurisdiction of the coastal district controlled by Puntland.
Al-shabaab militias early in the morning attacked the village, where some villagers have unsuccessfully tried to repulse attackers.

Security sources told
Puntland Post that the Al-shabaab militias arrested Mohamed Jama Aar, the chairman of the village, and other notables. Telecommunications in the village have been put out of service.
The fall of Milxo comes in the wake of successful smuggling of light arms into Durduri, a village on the outskirts of Lasqorey, by Al-shabaab whose associates procured weaponry from war-torn Yemen. ....

Puntland Enforces Use of the Somali Shilling for Transactions
Garowe (PP News Desk) A Puntland Government committee, tasked with finding solutions to the depreciation of the Somali shilling against the dollar, has issued a set of policies aimed at enforcing the use of the Somali shilling for transactions.
The eight-point policy statement contains measures the government will introduce to stabalise the exchange rate to rein in the depreciation of the Somali shilling, which resulted in inflation in Puntland.

Currency exchange branches will open at the government bank and private banks in Puntland.
Government ministries, agencies and utility companies are instructed to begin the use of the Somali shilling for transactions. No citizen will be forced to use the US dollar for transactions. ....
