what the truth is. she wants accountability. and it may be that one person is responsible, it may be that a number of people in the chain of custody of that gun. and of that bullet are responsible. and it may be that entities, the production company may also be responsible. does she know anything, gloria, about the crew members allegedly plinking, about doing target practice with live rounds potentially with the prop weapon? these aren t prop they re real weapons used as props. i don t have information on whether that is true or not. i know that it is reported. but obviously, you know, there wasn t just one thing that went wrong. you know, there may have been many, many problems and flaws and violations of the safety protocol. and that is really a big issue
the film s director joel souza telling investigators that baldwin was sitting on a wooden pew during rehearsal, cross-drawing his weapon and pointing the revolver towards the camera lens. souza, who was wounded, said he was looking over the shoulder of halyna when he heard what sounded like a whip and then a loud pop. we were rehearsing and it went off. we all ran out. reporter: hutchins was shot in the chest. souza telling investigators that the cinematographer began to stumble backwards and a cameraman on the set remember halyna saying she couldn t feel her legs. the affidavit reveals it was the film s assistant director dave halls, and not the armorer, hannah gutierrez, who handed baldwin the prop weapon, saying cold gun, indicating it was safe. that first a.d. should never reach for a gun on a set. it s unheard of. reporter: hannah gutierrez

back in 2019. also today, new photos just in to cnn showing baldwin meeting with helena hutchins husband and son in new mexico. in a statement the actor said his heart was broken for them and he s fully cooperating as police investigate. helena hutchins died there from the gunshot wound there on the set. cnn correspondent lucy kafanov is in santa fe, new mexico. lucy, what more are you learning about the safety issues and accusations? reporter: that s right, fred. we remember from the affidavit, the police affidavit, that david halls was listed as the assistant director who picked up one of the three prop weapons left outside of the structure where the team was filming that fateful thursday by the head arm oher. he picked up the gun. he walked it into the building. he handed it to alec baldwin shouting cold gun which should have meant that the we op or the prop weapon had no live rounds.
