Push in congress to make a temporary policy from the president s american Rescue Plan permanent. To stop child hunger. Thats the literal name of the act. Congresswoman hayes is part of that push. She will join me in a matter of minutes. Does her bill have a chance of passing . Today, The Big Question is if congress can come together on another item, infrastructure. The president is meeting with republican lead negotiators in a matter of hours. The ball is in the white Houses Court after the gop released its infrastructure counterproposal. The difference in the Price Tag is gaping. The runway for getting this done is shrinking. It has the president sending new signals on the direction he sees his agenda heading. He is tapping Vice President harris to tackle Voting Rights and drawing a Line In The Sand with his party over his agenda as time slips away. With two specific democratic senators to be exact. He is not naming names, but they are getting the message. A lot to talk about. First,

cdc. this morning, vice president kamala harris pitched the administration s covid relief plan as the answer for ramping up vaccinations. she says, teachers should be a priority and move up in line. here is what she just told savannah guthrie about the urgency to get this passed and people vaccinated. sometimes you talk about hurricanes and what we need to do relief afterward. this hurricane is still raging. we still have people dying on a daily basis. we have got to address this. that s what the president and i and the american rescue plan is designed to address. an emergency that is occurring right now and is ongoing. we need to act and we need to act now. the race to vaccinate some communities is so urgent that one pastor of a black church in virginia is literally going door to door asking his members to get one. his church was slated to open its doors a few seconds ago. it s a place where people can get vaccinated with the help of county nurses. nbc s aaron gilchrist

they can t handle. the buildings are not made to withstand these kinds of temperatures, and we re seeing that play out in the fact that people are trying to stay warm however they can. people have been sending in pictures of the thermostats inside their homes, and it s heartbreaking. one reads 45 degrees. i spoke to another gentleman who had to move his wife across the street in the snow after it dropped into the 30s there into a neighbor s home because they were the only ones that had a fireplace. that s up here in dallas. in houston, they re also breaking record lows as well. we had a chance to hear from the county judge in harris county on the state of really this frigid disaster playing out. take a listen. demand is up right now. a lot of the plants, the production plants, are down, and that is natural gas, all sorts of production. in order for the texas power grid not to fail, there has to be a balance between the two. the weather is going to go away in a couple days.
