The main culprit behind rapid inflation is high energy prices, however some internal factors have also helped boost inflation in Estonia to the EU's fastest. A clear pattern of consumers opting for discounted products had emerged in June already.
The online stores of supermarket chains operating in Estonia are reporting successive increases in turnover, however none of them will reveal actual revenue figures. According to pollster Kantar Emor, Selver's online store has the biggest clientele, followed by Maxima's e-store Barbora.
While recent decisions to end most coronavirus restrictions in Estonia have impacted online shops of major food retailers, volumes have stabilized at a higher level than previously, traders say.
