Group slams 'conflicting' statements on PDLs inclusion in COVID-19 vaccinations – Manila Bulletin

A prisoners advocacy group on Friday, April 16, expressed dismay over what it claimed as conflicting statements issued by two government agencies on the inclusion of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the priority list of persons for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccinations.

In a statement, Kapatid Spokesperson Fides Lim said that while a letter of the Department of Health (DOH) last March 3 stated that PDLs “as determined by BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) and BuCor (Bureau of Corrections) are included under the Priority Eligible Group B-9,” the Department of Justice (DOJ) last April 12 said that “as of now PDLs are not yet included in the priority list.” ....

THE inter-agency task force handling the coronavirus response has included more sectors in the fourth priority group for vaccination, according to the presidential palace, but when they will get the jab remains uncertain. 
Frontline workers in the transport sector, news media, wet and dry markets, several government agencies, and migrant Filipino workers are now among those eligible to be vaccinated under the A4 group of the coronavirus immunization program, Presidential Spokesman Herminio L. Roque, Jr. said in a statement on Friday.
Personnel in telecommunications firms, cable and internet service companies, and electricity distribution and water distribution utilities who deal directly with customers are also included. ....

PRISONERS, or formally referred to as persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), are included in the government’s priority groups for vaccination against coronavirus, the Health said on Friday.
“Groups at significant higher risk including all PDLs as determined by (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) and (Bureau of Corrections) are included under the Priority Eligible Group B-9,” Department of Health-National Vaccine Operations Center Chair Myrna C. Cabotaje said in a letter to Kapatid, a group representing families of political prisoners ....
