Pride services slated for this week; CMT special coming Wednesday
Monday, December 14, 2020 – Charley Pride s family and close friends will hold a private wake and memorial in Dallas this week, with future plans for a public celebration of life memorial ceremony to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Pride Scholarship at Jesuit College Preparatory School, St. Phillips School and Community center, any local food bank, or the charity of your choice.

American country music legend Charley Pride has become a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic. Pride is dead at age 86.
RCA Records recording artist Pride was at one time the second biggest selling RCA artist after Elvis Presley. He is also one of only three African-American artists to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
In the 1950s Pride excelled in sport and was a baseball player for the Memphis Red Sox.
In 1958 Charley visited Sun Records in Memphis and diverted his vocation to music. In 1971 he had his biggest hit ‘Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’.

CMAs respond to accusations Charley Pride contracted COVID-19 at the awards
Charley Pride tested negative for COVID-19 before and after he attended the Country Music Awards on Nov. 11.

The Country Music Association denied claims that country music legend Charlie Pride died after he contracted COVID-19 from the Country Music Awards ceremony on Nov. 11.
In a statement made on behalf of the association and the singer, the CMA Awards revealed that everyone who was at the event followed strict testing protocols outlined by the city health department and unions. Pride had his COVID-19 test several times and they all came out negative.
