BMW rolled out the next step in its evolution to electric vehicles at presentation in Detroit on Wednesday evening, unveiling a pair of new EVs scheduled for sale in the United States in March 2022.
The iX SUV and i4 sport sedan go into production in Germany this fall. The iX is about the size of BMW’s popular X5 midsize SUV.
It’s based on a new platform that will underpin a range of EVs. The i4 is essentially BMW’s current 4-series Gran Coupe, modified for electric power.
Both vehicles will have an EPA-rated range of around 300 miles on a fully charged battery, BMW electric vehicles product manager Don Smith said.
