Canyon News HOLLYWOOD I don’t know a kid who was not familiar with the popular animated series “Tom and Jerry” when I grew up. The one with the cat trying to get his clutches on that pesky and clever mouse. After years of entertaining audiences, the dynamic duo has finally made it to the big screen in a live-action version with “Tom and Jerry: The Movie.” Yes, I will admit seeing animated characters interact with real people was a bit jarring at first, but take the ride because the “Tom and Jerry” movie is a ton of fun. This is an animated movie so kids will thoroughly enjoy it, but there is also something for adults who get to see actual people as well. I could not tell you how stunned I was with the cast for this movie. I mean you have Chloe Grace Moretz, Colin Jost, Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, Rob Delaney, just to name a few. When it comes to voices we have Bobby Cannavale, Lil Rey Howery, Tim Story, as supporting voices for the kooky animals in this pic, ....

Ever the class clowns of NBCâs Saturday Night Live, Weekend Update anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost bust each otherâs chops as only good friends and co-workers would. So itâs natural to think that maybe there would have been some jokes brewing in Mr. Cheâs mind when it was made known that Jost had nabbed a starring role in Warner Bros.â big Tom and Jerry reboot. While Che certainly had thoughts on the matter, Jost revealed that the jokes will probably be coming at some point later down the line. ....
Subscribe Crisis Gary Oldman, Armie Hammer, Evangeline Lilly; directed by Nicholas Jarecki Nicholas Jarecki s sophomore feature, after his financial-morality laden Arbitrage, is a concoction of three story lines about the escalating opioid epidemic, replete with characters involved at disparate points of despondency and grief. Set in Montreal and Detroit, the film features undercover DEA operative Jake Kelly (Armie Hammer) who is tasked to link a crew of Armenian power gangsters with fentanyl smuggled from Montreal. Meanwhile, the fearless cop must also deal with his junkie sister (Lily-Rose Depp) in rehab. Then, there s Michigan resident Claire Reimann (Evangeline Lilly), a recovering addict whose world suddenly comes crashing down when her son turns up dead from a drug overdose. Overcome with despair and vengeance, she sets out on a personal mission to hunt down those accountable. ....
Advertisement Tom and Jerry are elemental. The gray, mishap-prone feline and his resourceful rodent prey have endured for 81 years on their strengths as the quintessential cartoon cat-and-mouse team: Tom chases Jerry, Jerry outsmarts Tom, the outsmarting inevitably results in some sort of painful, creatively visualized physical comeuppance. That baroque approach to slapstick violence is the other key to the act’s longevity, the inspiration behind at least one similarly deathless parody and the barbaric spark that long ago animated the imaginations of William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, and Chuck Jones. Even in the lesser, less funny shorts where the characters are friends, they still have a tendency to smack one another (or get smacked by others) into comically deformed shapes. It’s a tried-and-true recipe for lizard-brain belly laughs: zero dialogue, no fuss, lots of muss involving sharp or heavy objects found in and outside the home. ....
Tom & Jerry Review: A Live-Action Hipster Remake That s Strictly for Kids Tom & Jerry Review: A Live-Action Hipster Remake That s Strictly for Kids The classic cartoon cat and mouse cause chaos at a posh hotel s celebrity wedding in Tom and Jerry. Tom and Jerry return to theaters and HBO Max in a hipster, live-action film that s strictly for younger children. The classic Hanna-Barbera cat and mouse cartoon are still the best of frenemies. But get a modern update that rankled my old-school sensibilities. I knew things were going to be different when an animated pigeon starts rapping in the opening scene. The film isn t a musical, but there are a few auto-tuned songs that turned me off completely. That said, ....
