The three-day winter session of the Assam Assembly commenced on Monday, following Covid-19 protocols. Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he will introduce a bill to repeal provincialisation of Madrassas.
Today I shall introduce a Bill to repeal Provincialisation of Madrassa. Once the Bill is passed, the practice of running Madrassa by the Government in Assam will come to an end, a practice which was started by Muslim League govt in pre-Independence Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted. ....

As the winter session of the Assam Assembly began on Monday, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled a bill to repeal the provincialisation of Madrassa in the state.
We ve introduced a Bill whereby all Madrassas will be converted into institutes of general education and no Madrassa will be established by the government in the future.
