COVID PLAYING WITH FUTURE
BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) has opposed the Board of Secondary Education’s (BSE’s) plans to assess Class X students on the basis of their internal examination marks.
Teachers said with Covid cases on the rise and many teachers, headmasters and their family members infected, it may not be possible for them to submit the report within hours of getting the notification.
They also felt that the evaluation process is faulty and will not be fair for meritorious students, who would have scored well had they appeared for the examination.
“We got the board’s notification at 10 pm and were asked to submit the marks of Class IX and X, the day after positively. Many teachers and their family members are fighting the Covid-19 virus. It is difficult to submit the report at such a short notice,” said Prakash Chandra Mohanty, president of OSSTA.
