reporter: well, i think, brooke, we can certainly expect the search efforts to continue and perhaps even to intensify. in the past few days people have been scouring the waters surrounding this island. they have been walking the beaches in hopes of finding any other clues that could help to solve the mystery of flight mh-370. people here say they want to help. they want to help give the families closure and they recognize that each piece of potential debris that they find would would possibly aid in that effort and they are not just searching here on reunion island but they are searching in nearby martha stewartias as well as the nearby seychelles because experts say debris could be carried to any number of areas.
it had been in the water for a long time indeed. but this piece hadn t. but they are dna testing it. but they think it s not likely to be from mh370. experts from flying in from across the world and will meet first thing monday to start their analysis and coming here wednesday to verify whether or not this flaperon is from mh370. at this point let s bring in david malcow. he joins us from hong kong. we don t have solid confirmation any debris is from mh370 yet but we have a few leads that could be promising. bring us up to speed on the latest on the investigation and the ongoing search. reporter: that s right. of course ultimately with this flaperon and other pieces of potential debris washing up

juliebanderas. new developments in the search for missing malaysia airlines flight 370. malaysian air officials are now asking people in areas near where that part of a plane was found to keep a close eye out for more potential debris. this comes as there are new reports of more items washing ashore on an east african island. investigators in france are investigating part of a wing and a suitcase that were also found last week. the debris is believed to be from flight 370 and if confirmed could help explain where and why the plane went down. it has been nearly an agonizing year and a half since the aircraft vanished en route from kuala lumpur to beijing. more than 200 people were on board. reporter: julie, there was a bit of a false alarm early this morning on this remote island in the indian ocean. we first heard there was a plane
