Henrico firefighter injured battling large building fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. A Henrico firefighter suffered minor injuries when they fell from a bay door to the ground after fighting a fire in a large building in an industrial/warehouse complex on East Port Boulevard, off Charles City Road and Laburnum Avenue, Thursday night.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. First fire unit arrived at 10:27 p.m. to find smoke in a large commercial building, a Henrico fire spokesperson wrote in an email. The automatic fire sprinkler system had activated and the building was evacuated. Fire crews located the fire at 10:34 p.m. and had zero visibility in and around the warehouse.
