Get a little less exasperating starting tonight. The d. C. Department of transportation is changing the timing of traffic lights at hundreds of intersections throughout northwest. The changes are in neighborhoods highlighted in this map here. Those corners are clogged more often than not. Now, the goal of the timing change is to improve traffic flow and shorten wait times for drivers. Ddot tells us it will monitor the new patterns and make adjustments as needed. This new timing should also give pedestrians more time to cross the street. We are still gathering information about a fire in northeast this morning. It happened off of benning road around 8 00. The second floor of the building has significant damage. There were no injuries, and investigators are still looking for the cause. Ac transit bus could be released from a hospital. As kpix 5s da lin reports, the father of Luke Fleischman wants the suspect tried as a juvenile. Reporter 16yearold Richard Thomas is being tried as an adult for burning fleischman. He set the teens skirt on fire aboard a bus. The suspect and his attorney asked the judge to send the case to juvenile court. The victims father Carl Fleischman agrees. As a 16yearold, i feel that he should be tried as a juvenile.
