From: Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada Under the Northern Contaminants Program, the Government of Canada is providing $1 million in 2021-2022 for new projects focusing on environmental and community-based monitoring and research Traditionally harvested foods are important to the culture and diet of Indigenous peoples and Northerners. It takes Indigenous peoples and scientists working together to better understand the levels of contaminants in these foods and implementing co-developed solutions for reducing exposure to these contaminants. Today, the Minister of Northern Affairs, the Honourable Daniel Vandal, launched the 2021-2022 Call for Proposals for research, monitoring and related activities concerning contaminants that originate in other parts of the globe and are transported through air and sea currents to Canada’s North and Arctic. ....
