West Plains City Council approves hire of Shayne Eades as new Utilities DirectorOzark Radio News

West Plains, MO. - The West Plains City Council approved the hire of Shayne Eades as the new Utility Director during Monday's (12/19) council meeting. Eades has worked for the City of West Plains for the past 18 years, most recently serving as the Public Works Operations Supervisor. Eades holds linemen, fiber optic, water treatment, water distribution, and wastewater certifications from the State of Missouri. "It's always been my goal to continue and advance my career within the City of West Plains," said Eades. "I am looking forward to beginning this next chapter." Eades began his career with the City of West Plains in 2004 as a medium equipment operator in the street department. He has also served as a medium equipment operator in the water department, water serviceman, lineman, and lead lineman. Outside of work, Eades has represented the Howell County Public Water District and Glenwood School as a board member. Eades replaces longtime City of West Plain ....

West Plains Property Tax Increase Passes. What Will This Mean For You?Ozark Radio News

West Plains, MO. - The West Plains City Council held a special session last night at city hall and passed the city property tax for 2022. This is not a new tax but an update to the existing property tax that must be passed yearly. The maximum property tax that a city can pass is determined by the State Auditor of Missouri. The property tax for 2021 was $0.3091 per $100 of assessed valuation. With the passage of Bill 4720, the property tax for 2022 is $0.3106 per $100 of assessed valuation, an increase of $0.0015 per $100 of assessed valuation. This means if you owned $100,000 of assessable property, your yearly tax would increase by $150. For those who don't own much, such as a person who owns a car valued at $4,000 and rents, their property tax would increase by $6. The city also passed Bill 4719 that is an annual requirement by the state that certain conflicts of interest must be disclosed, and Bill 4718 that modifies Tourist Development Advisory Council term limits and meeting ....
