Premium Content Subscriber only A WOMAN who went before an Ipswich court on her 11th offence for driving while disqualified will remain in jail for some time due to long delays in processing Queensland parole applications. Jade Stelling was given immediate parole eligibility but now faces uncertainty as to the time it will take when making her case for parole release. Thousands of prisoners are experiencing long delays by the parole board in finalising their applications, the Ipswich Magistrate Court heard when she was sentenced. Appearing from jail via video-link Jade Teresa Stelling, 31, from Wulkuraka, pleaded guilty to 13 charges. The charges include unlawful common assault at North Ipswich on August 8, 2020; four counts of possession of illegal drugs including methamphetamine in Eastern Heights on May 22, 2019; two counts of failing to safely dispose of used needles/ syringes; driving when disqualified at Plainland on October 21, 2019; and four breache ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Plainland doctor gaining hands-on experiences in general practice sooner than anticipated thanks to a unique national training program. The national GP training program has allowed Curtis Medical doctor Adnan Wahid live and work in the community while gaining specialist qualifications in general practice. Dr Wahid is one of 32 doctors who are training with the Remote Vocational Training Scheme this year. The Plainland doctor moved to the region last year and said the benefits of working and training as a doctor under the RVTS training model were significant. “After working as a doctor for many years within the hospital system in different states, I commenced my General Practice journey last year in Plainland, Queensland – and I’m enjoying my work here, as well as the diverse community” he said. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A five-metre-high septic pump station will be built on a main road in Plainland to pump sewage from new developments across to Laidley. On Wednesday, the Lockyer council granted a material change for Gehrke Road project, which will include the construction of a new pump station. At present, the land is fitted with an interim sewage pump-out facility, but to continue the population growth at Plainland, new options have been sought. Deputy mayor Jason Cook reassured councillors that it was a pump station that would feed the septic through to the Laidley Sewage Treatment Plant. He was reassuring that there would be no odour issues. ....
