UP team crowned 'global champion' in Shell's CO2 emission reduction in autos – Manila Bulletin

Students from the University of the Philippines (UP) scored prestigious victory in the global competition on tracking and reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from vehicles, a contest for the youth that has multinational energy giant Royal Dutch Shell as its sponsor and prime mover.
As formally announced by Shell recently, “a team of students from the University of the Philippines had been crowned global champions of Shell’s Pitch The Future competition.”
The event spotlighted series of competitions that brought together student-teams from various countries globally “to tackle real-world energy challenges.”

PH Team's CO2-Emission-Reduction Mobile App Wins Top Prize

The team won the Tracking and Reducing CO2 Emissions from Vehicles Challenge for their mobile application CERO, which helps motorists reduce their fuel consumption by up to 15%, allowing them to both save on fuel costs and reduce their carbon dioxide emissions.
Hailing from a variety of different fields, including chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and business administration, Team Alamat UP’s big win was brought home by members Matthew Solomon Arjonillo; Esther Pauline Bacay; John Cagape; Paolo Ricco Gauma; Althea Patricia Laza; FuLin Li; Aleandro Sta. Ana; Jan Goran Tomacruz; and Marc Adrian Yu.
